There are many other historical sites too numerous to
mention. Jonesborough, Tennessee's oldest town, and Elizabethton's famous covered bridge are but a few. Museums and antique shops abound as do festivals for every season, including the National Storytelling Festival and the Appalachian Fair.
Other outdoor recreations include hiking the Appalachian Trail, horseback riding and hot air ballon flights! White-water rafting and other lake activities can be enjoyed at nearby rivers (Nolichucky, Holston, Clinch, Doe) and lakes (Watauga, Cherokee, Boone, South Holston and Davy Crockett). Don't forget the many ski slopes to choose from in winter (Sugar, Beech and Hawks Nest).
For a bigger dose of civilization enjoy several golf courses, water parks and amusement parks.
If spectator sports are more your style, book your cabin early for the races at Bristol Motor Speedway, "The World's Fastest Half-Mile Track". Safe Haven Farm is a mere 25 miles away which is far enough to escape the commotion but close enough to share in the events with other fans. Sports stadiums include Viking Hall Civic Center, Freedom Hall, ETSU Memorial Center and the Dobyns-Bennett Dome.
Most of all, our location invites you to enjoy the quiet solitude of nature on the front porch swing or rocker of your own cabin hideaway!
